Blood Drive Scheduled
Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) is partnering with Shepeard Community Blood Center to hold a blood drive adjacent to the main terminal building of Augusta Regional Airport from 1:30 to 6 p.m., Oct. 22.
The Shepeard Blood Mobile will be located adjacent to the main terminal building, located at 1501 Aviation Way, in the Elite Rewards Parking Lot. The first 15 donors will receive a free Applebee’s gift card. All donors will receive points in the Shepeard donor store that can be redeemed for gift cards or T-shirts.
Despite the efforts of blood donation centers over the past few months, centers nationwide are in dire need of blood donations. Local hospitals are in urgent need of O negative and O positive blood types.
Shepeard is the community’s local non-profit blood center that supplies blood products to several local hospitals. Donations Shepeard can help save up to three local lives.

Harrisburg revitalization project Turn Back the Block will be hosting a Trunk or Treat for area youth Friday, Oct. 29.
MORE: CityServe Unifies Neighborhoods Locally and Abroad
The event took place in 2020 as well. Further, kids from around the Harrisburg area are invited to gather at the site to collect candy and treats, yes, but also toothbrushes, books, school supplies and other items that are useful for a full and healthy life.
“It’s right across from our headquarters at 1919 Telfair St. from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The sole purpose is to celebrate being neighbors, to create fellowship and fun in a safe way for the holiday,” Brown said. “We’ll have organizations like the Morris Museum of Art, Heritage Academy, Augusta Locally Grown and others there to help out. It’s going to be fun, just fun.”
