The Oregon-based Portland Bolt and Manufacturing Company announced its purchase of Southern Anchor Bolt, headquartered in the Edgefield County side of North Augusta, back in June.
This $4.3 million investment will entail bringing the North Augusta facility up to speed, the company announced Tuesday. This includes the construction of a new facility to house an additional manufacturing line at Southern Anchor Bolt’s plant at 890 W. Five Notch Road in North Augusta. for more employees, to open in 2025.
Southern Anchor Bolt, which produces steel construction fasteners—such as galvanized anchor bolts and double-ended studs—as well as industrial hardware such as nuts and washers, was established in 1966.
Portland Bolt, which began in 1912, specializes in a wider variety of the same kind of industrial-grade fasteners. Its acquisition of Southern Anchor expands manufacturing footprint not only in the Southeast, but to the east coast.
“Edgefield County is grateful for Portland Bolt, a well-respected name in the fastener industry, expanding in Edgefield County,” said Dean Campbell, chairman of the Edgefield County Council, adding that the council “has been diligent in keeping the conditions favorable for industry to grow and prosper.”
The new manufacturing line at the Southern Anchor factory in North Augusta is slated to be online in the first quarter in 2025.
