A 13-year-old girl was picked up from her North Augusta home and raped in Columbia County by a 17-year-old boy who she met through social media, authorities said.

Christopher Blayne Virgil, 17, was arrested early Monday on charges of rape, child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes. An arrest warrant says the crime occurred on July 2-3.

Virgil allegedly solicited the young girl through text messages and over social media. He arranged to have her taken from North Augusta into the city of Harlem “for the purpose of having the victim sexually molested and raped,” a warrant says.

In Harlem, he then raped her, using physical force against her will, according to the rape warrant. He also molested her by penetrating her digitally, according to the molestation warrant.

Virgil remained Monday morning at the Columbia County Detention Center without bond.
