One person was killed and two others were critically injured Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle crash in Aiken County, according to Coroner Darryl Ables.

Landis Garrett, 20, of Holly Hill, S.C., was a passenger in a 2009 Nissan Altima that collided with a 2019 Chevrolet Duramax truck around 6:10 p.m. at the intersection of Atomic Road and Silver Bluff Road.

Investigators said the Nissan was attempting to turn onto Atomic Road from Silver Bluff Road when the crash occurred. The driver and another passenger in the Nissan were transported to a hospital in critical condition. The driver of the truck was not seriously injured.

Ables said his office responded to the scene at 6:30 p.m. and pronounced Garrett dead at 8:10 p.m. from blunt force injuries. The Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate.
