Aiken County deputies are investigating the death of a man after a shooting in Graniteville Wednesday night.

According to reports, authorities were dispatched around 11:30 p.m. to Aiken Regional Medical Centers, where doctors treated a gunshot victim. Deputies said his injuries were not life-threatening and he was later released.

Meanwhile, other units began gathering information on the possible shooting, and deputies responded to 340 Aiken Rd, near Mack Lane, in Graniteville. According to reports, they found a male dead in the front door way. Deputies said he had been shot.

The man was identified as 26-year-old Joccoui Jackson of Aiken. He will be autopsied Saturday morning in Newberry.

Deputies did not identify the man treated at the hospital. A sheriff’s office spokesman confirmed early Thursday, however, that the two shootings are related.

Capt. Eric Abdullah said that community assistance is important with any investigation. And the sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information that would support this investigation or video, call them at (803) 648-6811.
