Dear Editor,

Above is a link to a letter from 84 individual district attorneys across the nation saying they will not prosecute their individual state laws on abortion in light of the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe vs Wade, which simply returned the power to make laws regarding abortion to the individual states as allocated in the 10th Amendment.

They cite the reason being twofold, first allocation of resources and second their reaction to what they believe will be the results to those women impregnated because of of sexual abuse, rape, incest, human trafficking, and domestic violence. The latter reason comprises less the 2% of all abortions. That alone should make us doubt the reason behind this decision by these 84 District Attorneys of which seven are from Georgia and basically cover Atlanta, Savannah, Macon, Athens and Augusta.

That’s right, our own elected district attorney for the Augusta area, Jared Williams, has signed on that he will not prosecute offenders of Georgia Law as it relates to abortion, as codified by the duly elected Georgia State Legislature. Mr. Williams has highhandedly made the decision that laws duly and constitutionally passed by legislators you elected are invalid and will not be pursued for prosecution. The teeth (enforcement) of those laws have been pulled by one elected official. If that doesn’t offend your expectation of “Law and Order,” consider the brazenness of proclaiming his intention in an open letter he signed. I at least give him credit for expressing his intent while I doubt his political savvy for doing so. The punchline to an old crass joke is “I don’t beleive I would have said that.”

Let that sink in a bit before you read further.

Now, admittedly, I don’t know what the district attorney oath of office is for the state of Georgia, and I am open to being educated, but I gotta believe prosecution of those who break the laws of Georgia and local jurisdictions is primary.

But I do want to explore the ramifications and possibilities of DA Williams’ proclamation. Just spit-balling thoughts here, so feel free to add your thoughts. And try to avoid violating community standards, whatever that may be.

Because our DA has signed onto this statement, what do you imagine the front-line Law Enforcement will do? The obvious answer is they will take little to no action against active illegal Abortion “clinics.” Guess what, if there are no abortion clinics in Augusta, the (thinking of a word that won’t get me banned here) elimination of unwanted babies won’t be as big an issue. Plus, we will be a safe harbor for those wishing to continue offering death and dismemberment to unborn babies.

By making this statement, the DA has negated both the Supreme Court as well as the state Legislature including the Governor.  Lack of prosecution means the laws don’t matter. Kinda like the way no one really worries about speeding tickets in Richmond county already.

By making this statement, the DA has negated the “Rule of Law” for our area and if unchallenged has set precedent. Danger Ranger!

That means the local DA could decide, for whatever reason, he will no longer prosecute burglaries as the local sheriff’s department now takes your burglary info over the phone.

That means the local DA could decide, for whatever reason, he will no longer prosecute assault.

That means the local DA could decide, for whatever reason, he will no longer prosecute (fill in the blank).

I don’t know about you, but that alarms me greatly. I don’t know what extreme that could be taken to, but unchallenged and in today’s “Woke” society could a murder not be prosecuted? Given the target some demographics have on their back,  because it was committed against a White Privileged person?

Bottom line is this looks to be the “Camel’s nose under the tent”, a “Slippery Slope” and any other adage you may think of.

It is dangerous, dereliction of duty and a total disregard for the law. And it scares the dickens out of me. If it doesn’t bother you, you are more trusting of government than I am.

And you really want to take my guns?  If I had any….

Wake up, folks.
