As Giving Tuesday approaches people around the world and the CSRA are looking for ways to give back to their communities.

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that occurs yearly on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. Some organizations might put out a call for donations on its website or social media in honor of Giving Tuesday, such as The Greater Augusta Arts Council or Aiken’s Friends of the Animals Shelter

One of the most direct ways to participate in Giving Tuesday is by donating to a charity or nonprofit; A list of nonprofits and charities in Augusta can be found here

Why donate?

Kari Viola-Brooke, the executive director of Child Enrichment, Inc., said that donations received on Giving Tuesday are incredibly impactful for many organizations.

“Giving Tuesday, for us at Child Enrichment, is just a great way to get more awareness about the important work we’re doing,” she said. “This is a big part of our revenue stream that allows us to provide free services to help kids heal after they’ve experienced abuse.”

She added that Giving Tuesday has grown over the past few years as far as participation numbers and money raised.

“It’s been really great to see that there’s just been a huge uptick in people donating to nonprofits and charities around the CSRA,” she said.
