More than 1.5 pounds of fentanyl were seized and three people arrested after a multi-agency drug investigation culminated in a search warrant executed in North Augusta on Thursday, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
The raid, which took place at a home on the 1000 block of Georgia Avenue, was the result of months of investigation into an alleged drug trafficking organization led by 57-year-old Jerome Green of Graniteville, authorities said.
The operation began in May and involved collaboration between the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
During the execution of the search warrant, Aiken County authorities recovered over 700 grams of fentanyl, equivalent to approximately 1.54 pounds. Fentanyl is an extremely potent synthetic opioid, and even small amounts can be lethal. The amount seized in this case could potentially represent hundreds of thousands of deadly doses.

Three individuals were arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl: Jerome Green, 57, of Graniteville; Maxine Greene, 56, of North Augusta; and Winnie Marie Carrol, 59, also of North Augusta. Green is currently being held in Columbia County and is awaiting extradition to Aiken County.
“We are grateful for such good interagency collaboration and hard teamwork from each agency involved,” the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “This is a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when we work together to keep our community safe.”
