The owners of the planned unit development (PUD) Petersburg Shoppes in Martinez are seeking a major revision from the county amid its expansion.
Local architect Peter Slavovsky, on behalf of T. Reddy Family Shoppes, which owns 500 – 502 Furys Ferry Road, the former site of the Final Cut warehouse, has applied for a major PUD revision of the two parcels, totaling more than 10 acres, that comprise the shopping center.
The proposed revision would be to accommodate an overhaul of the 55,830-square foot building which housed a Bi-Lo supermarket before Final Cut. The accompanying narrative document notes that 49,856 square feet of this building will be subdivided into two tenant units.
One tenant will be the upcoming Furys Ferry Hardware Store, occupying the north half of the building, and is to include a 3,600-square foot greenhouse.
The other tenant will be Dink’d Pickleball, owned by former Crumb’l Cookies franchisee Troy Akers. The new entertainment center will use more than 24,000 square feet of space for 10 pickleball courts, and have a café serving coffee and alcoholic beverages.
The narrative mentions that the Phase 1 building of the shopping center (the former Bi-Lo location) and the Phase 2 structure are to undergo cosmetic upgrades, and that a fourth phase is planned, though it is not part of the subject revision.
Boca Raton, Fla.-based telecom tech company Vertical Bridge is seeking conditional use to construct a cell tower in Grovetown.
The company has requested to rezone a portion of a parcel at 5019 High Meadows Drive from RA residential agricultural to S-1 special. There it aims to construct a 195-foot monopole communication tower, along with a support facility, to support T-Mobile and two “additional carriers for a total of [three] colocations.” The structures would cover some 3,600 square feet of the 17-acre parcel, which is owned by Columbia County.
Both items a scheduled for consideration by the Columbia County Planning Commission during its meeting on Thursday, Dec. 21.
