Paine College welcomes new leadership team under President Lester A. McCorn

In a dynamic start to his presidency, Lester A. McCorn has made significant strides in his first 30 days at Paine College, setting a promising trajectory for the institution’s future. 

With a focus on academic excellence and administrative efficiency, President McCorn has announced two key appointments that officials at Paine College believe will reinforce his commitment to elevating Paine College’s stature in higher education.

“These appointments are a testament to President McCorn’s visionary leadership and his dedication to advancing Paine College’s legacy,” according to a press release from Paine College.

Formerly at Coppin State University, Dr. Pamela Wilkes has been appointed as the new provost of Paine College.

“Wilkes brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in academic leadership,” according to a press release from Paine College.

As provost, Wilkes will oversee the academic affairs of the college, ensuring the quality and integrity of its educational offerings. 

Her role encompasses curriculum development, faculty affairs and the enhancement of academic standards, all of which are “pivotal to Paine College’s mission of fostering an environment of learning and growth,” according to a Paine College press release.

Also joining the leadership team is Michael Meyers, who steps in as the special assistant to the president.

With extensive experience in administrative support and leadership facilitation, Meyers will be charged with streamlining operations of the office, in addition to being a trusted advisor and supporting the President’s strategic initiatives.

“His expertise will be instrumental in driving organizational efficiency and supporting the college’s executive functions,” according to a press release from Paine College.

Established in 1882, Paine College is known in the community for having a rich history of providing quality education and fostering a diverse and inclusive community.

“Under President McCorn’s guidance, the institution is poised to build upon its historical foundations while embracing innovation and progress,” stated a Paine College press release.

In addition to the president’s new appointments, McCorn, a distinguished leader with a history of transformative leadership, has already begun to implement initiatives that align with his vision for Paine College. 

“His commitment to academic excellence, community engagement, and institutional growth promises to usher in an era of prosperity and achievement for students, faculty, and the broader community,” according to a press release from Paine College. “As the college continues to honor its past, it eagerly anticipates a future filled with opportunity and success under the capable leadership of President Lester A. McCorn and his team.”

With strategic appointments marking the beginning of a new chapter, the future of Paine College “looks bright.”
