The Paul Anderson Youth Home (PAYH), a Vidalia-based program dedicated to transforming the lives of young men facing behavioral challenges, is coming to North Augusta this month to hold its 32nd Annual Golf Classic.
The May 5 tournament will be held at the River Golf Club from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the goal of bringing in funding for the youth home’s cause through a combination of sponsorships and participation costs.
Playing for a cause
According to PAYH Communications Officer Jeff Padgett, The Paul Anderson Golf Classic has raised more than $7 million over the last 30 plus years, providing crucial funding for PAYH’s Christian residential program and on-campus school for young men ages 16-21 struggling with behavioral problems, discipline issues, anger and depression.
He said that over time, he’s witnessed some of the men who go through the youth home program come out successful, some even becoming business owners or joining the military, overall learning to flourish in their daily lives.
“We have been very passionate since 1961 in sending a message to these young guys, even though you may have made some mistakes, you may have messed up, but it’s not over, it’s not done with. We believe in you and we believe enough to invest ourselves full time to support you,” he said.
