A favorite go-to meal for frugal college students is set to be the main course at a new restaurant scheduled to open before Masters on Broad Street in Augusta.

Pho-Ramen’l  is a new concept being developed by restaurateur Sean Wight, who owns three other restaurants on the 1200 block of Broad Street.

The fusion restaurant of Pho food and Southern cuisine Ramen noodles will occupy the front half of 990 Broad Street, once home to Blue Sky Kitchen, which closed two years ago, after serving patrons for nearly 19  years.

Two construction workers labored Christmas Week to help the owner open his dual concept restaurant next to The Soul Bar in the former Blue Sky Kitchen.

A kitchen will separate Pho-Ramen’l from another Wight concept called, Taco Cat Street Tacos, which will be in the back of the building on 10th Street.

There will be a connecting door for customers to walk through to both eateries.

“Sean has affection for all cuisine and when he sees something while traveling he’ll try and incorporate it in menus for Augusta,” said Jennifer Krapp who’s been overseeing the build out of the two restaurants since early 2020.

Krapp’s helped Wight open all of his restaurants, which includes Frog Hollow Tavern, Craft and Vine, Farmhaus Burgers 1 all on Broad Street and Farmhaus 2 and Frog & Hen at 466 Flowing Wells Road in Martinez.

Sean Wight’s 4th and 5th restaurants include Farmhaus 2 and Frog n Hen. They are at the corner of Mason McKnight Parkway and Flowing Wells Road

The Ramen concept will have a Southern flair and will include traditional meats and vegetables and more. “ Sean will probably incorporate some game in the recipes like Venison,” she added.

Combined, there is 6,000 square feet and Krapp says the restaurants will be open for Lunch and Dinner and employ somewhere between 35-40 people.
