As the tag “Jr.” implies, “Peter Pan Jr.” is a scaled down version of the original show, but it has all the elements those who love the show want.

It will be presented at Fort Gordon Dinner Theatre, 32100 Third Ave. Thursday through Saturday.

The full-length show is about three hours, said Mickey Lubeck of Musical Theatre Workshops; the “junior” version has all the songs of the song of the original “I Won’t Grow Up,” “I Gotta Crow” and “Ugg A Wugg” and the characters everyone knows —  Peter Pan, Wendy, the Lost Boys, Captain Hook and Tinkerbell.

Lubeck said it’s a show she’s always loved, and while she’s never been able to play the role herself, she’s enjoyed as she’s watched her daughter in the role and now the children she teaches.

Leah Mundy, who plays Wendy, said she’s mainly familiar with the animated Disney version of “Peter Pan,” and she’s enjoying playing the role.

This is the second year that Musical Theatre Workshops have performed on the Fort Gordon Dinner Theatre stage. The youth thespian organization brought “Tuck Everlasting” to the stage in February in one of the first live performances after COVID restrictions shut theaters down.

Lubeck said it was great to bring one of her productions to a stage she’s familiar with.

In most years, the performers compete at the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta. Due to COVID-19, it was cancelled in 2021. COVID-19 restrictions are preventing the group from returning in 2022, Lubeck said.

She said she was thrilled that her actors would be able to use the dinner theater space again.

Peter Pan Jr. will be performed at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10-$15. Tickets are limited and are available at the Musical Theatre Workshops’ website, onwiththeshow.biz.
