Fiona is a female, 2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier/Black Mouth Cur mix who has had a rough start in life. She was rescued from a small neighboring animal control after being confiscated from a property where illegal activities occurred. She has been with the rescue for a year now but has made a lot of progress. She needs a strong, dedicated leader who can give her the structure she needs.
She is friendly with all dogs and all people. She will resource guard food, so she needs to be fed away from other dogs. She has a lot of anxiety due to her past that comes out through high energy, so she benefits from strict structure and direction.
She is doing great in her foster home with lots of guidance and exercise. She is incredibly smart and obedient and has good door manners. She loves to run and explore but will also cuddle you and give hugs. She is good off-leash and in the house.

Trixie is a 4- or 5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog that weighs about 47 pounds and is brindle/white in color. She was rescued from a hoarding situation where she was living in filthy conditions and suffering abuse. Despite this, Trixie is one super sweet girl who loves nothing more than spending time with humans and getting love. She stays close when out of her kennel and just follows her foster around. Trixie is extremely smart, affectionate, and playful. She does not walk on a leash regularly, but when she has, she has done well. Trixie loves treats and knows some commands. She rides extremely well in a vehicle. She would do best in a home with no children or teenage children. Trixie has done well with both dogs and cats. She comes vetted, spayed and microchipped.

Shia is a five-year-old husky/shepherd/ Labrador mix and weighs about 70 pounds to 80 pounds. He was pulled from a Georgia animal control where he was picked up as a stray and never claimed. He was on the euthanasia list due to overcrowding.
Shia is extremely smart, sweet and loves his time to run outside. He knows a couple commands and loves spending time with humans. Shia walks well on a leash, but it takes him a bit to settle into it as he is not walked on a leash regularly. Shia has been exposed to goats, cattle, ducks and chickens and likes to watch them, but has never tried to pursue any of them. Shia is a big boy who loves to give hugs and will sometimes jump up, so would do best with older children. He will need a home with a fenced yard since he likes exploring, a farm with acreage or a very active owner. His foster is unsure if he is housebroken but he has not had any accidents in his interior kennel area. He loves his treats (and takes them very gently), likes to play with toys and chew on bones. Shia comes fully vetted, microchipped and neutered.

Axel is a male,1-year-old, Tzu/Terrier mix who loves to run and play. He does take a little longer getting used to working breed dogs, maybe because some have high prey drive. He has displayed some resource guarding and barrier reactivity toward other dogs but only when in his cage. His interaction with smaller dogs is unknown at this time.
He loves to cuddle with his humans and follows them everywhere. If there are kids, it would probably be good to place him in a home with kids 10 and up.

Harley Quinn is a female, 2.5-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier and Labrador Retriever mix. She is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves to play ball and runs and leaps like a deer. She had a rough beginning in life and came from a situation in a neighboring county that was quite harsh. She spent time in a small cage and was made to breed. She had one small puppy with her when she found herself in the rescue and she was understandably anxious and nervous. Given her past circumstance she is nervous around other dogs so a meet and greet will be necessary. She has not been around young children, so children aged 8 and up will be best and we’re not sure about cats. She just needs love, patience, and understanding.

Jake is a 5.5-year-old hound and terrier mix and weighs about 45 pounds. He came from a possible dog fighting ring, but he has been nothing but gentle at his foster’s house. He may have been used as a bait dog as he has scars on his face. Jake is extremely smart, sweet and loves his time outside. He loves his treats (and takes them very gently), likes to play with toys and chew on bones. Jake walks okay on a leash, but it takes him a bit to settle into it as he is not walked on a leash regularly. Due to his previous living conditions, his foster thinks he has never been in a home, therefore, housebreaking is coming slowly. He is reactive to other dogs, so would do best as an only pet. Jake comes fully vetted, microchipped and neutered.

Sometimes he tends to be a little unsure of people but loves his caregivers at the kennel and is learning to trust.
He needs a quiet home life with not a lot of activity so he can easily acclimate to his new family and surroundings. If you can give him that kind of life, email Hands to Paws to have a meet and greet.

Sophie is a female, 5-year-old to 7-year-old, Labrador Retriever mix. She is very sweet, friendly, affectionate girl who we rescued in February 2019 from a house where she was left behind when her owners moved after being evicted. Sophie has anxiety issues and is currently on prescribed Prozac from a veterinarian, which has really helped her calm down and helped her to become less reactive.
She’s playful and loves attention and to be loved on but has some trust issues that need to be worked through. She has come a long way and although she tends to be dog selective, she is friendly with some dogs.
From what Hands to Paws gathered from the neighbors where Sophie was abandoned, Sophie had at least one litter of puppies that died and her owners neglected her before abandoning her, so this sweet soul has been through so much and has come a long way in a short time. She needs structure and stability and the ideal home would be a place with no other pets and no small children. She is very reactive and fearful of horses and cats. She can be triggered by new things, so that’s why it’s important for her to have a daily routine with no chaos. She needs someone with a lot of patience, understanding, and experience with dogs that have behavior issues stemming from being abandoned. She does well in a very structured, routine environment, doesn’t do well with a lot of changes.

She does better with other dogs that are more submissive and does better with dogs her size. No small dogs. She has shown herself to be good with children, but because of her boisterous nature it’s best to not have children younger or smaller than 6 years of age. She’s a very smart girl and knows many commands but at times stubborn. She’d make a great addition to an active family, person or a couple. She is house trained, and crate trained.

Molly is a 9-year-old tan and white hound/Shepherd Mix that weighs about 55-60 pounds. She was surrendered by her owner because the owner moved, and the house/yard was too small for her. Although she is shy at first, she is sweet, extremely smart, affectionate, and playful. Molly is housebroken and will put her nose on the doorknob when she wants to go out. She loves being outside and will fetch balls and sticks.
At her fosters house, Molly loves her couch time, getting affection and will speak to let you know she has not received enough. She also knows where the toy box is and helps herself. She will play with as many toys as possible while having couch time. Molly does not walk on a leash regularly, but when she has, she has done well.
According to the previous owner, Molly is good with all children, other dogs, but it is unknown how she would do around cats. She knows a few commands and rides well in a vehicle without being crated. Molly is medium heartworm positive and will begin treatment in the next week. If she is adopted, she will come with all her heartworm treatment medication.
