Augusta’s Phinizy Center for Water Sciences recently received $15,000 from Bank of America to help maintain and strengthen the swamp’s outdoor trails and recreation sites.

Bank of America’s contribution will be used for capital support for trails and boardwalk repairs, such as purchasing composite boards, power tools, supplies and more.

“We are sincerely grateful to Bank of America for their generous contribution to Phinizy Center, but what is equally meaningful to us is Bank of America’s employees volunteering their time and talents to work on our boardwalks,” said Phinizy Center’s Executive Director and COO Alicia Sweat.

Program support will include coordinating volunteer workdays and organizing all prep materials for nature park projects.

Operating support will ensure that the Phinizy Center is able to achieve its mission in providing leadership for sustainable watersheds and economic vitality through research, education and by connecting people with nature, according to a press release from the center.
