A few days after Columbia County ushered in Christmastime with its tree lighting ceremony, a throng of families gathered in the heart of Evans to watch the Columbia County Christmas Parade.

The procession along a portion of Evans to Locks Road and down Evans Towne Center Boulevard began at 3 p.m., but families had been camping out with portable chairs for nearly an hour before that.

The Board of Commissioners led a chain of some 114 floats and participants, including local businesses, high school bands and JROTC units and more than a few renditions of the Grinch.
