The CSRA Walk For Water was held Saturday at SRP Park.
About 400 people participated virtually and in person for the event that raises money and awareness for the millions of people who don’t have easy access to clean drinking water.
Every day, millions of women and children in developing countries walk nearly four miles to retrieve water for their family’s daily needs. In most cases, even after walking for miles and miles, the water they have to drink is contaminated, according to the walk’s website, csrawalk4water.org.

Saturday’s walk simulated this trek to raise awareness of the global water crisis. Participants began the walk at SRP Park with an empty bucket and walked to St Paul’s Church on Reynolds Street in Augusta to fill their bucket with water. They took their water to a filtration system at at the park as part of the event.

“We hope that all participants end the walk with a better understanding of the challenges people around the world face daily in search of something that we often take for granted – water,” the website said.
The event raised more than $10,000 for water missions, according to the website.
