The annual JoeFest A Real Toy and Comic Show brought crowds of comic book and collectible toy fans as well as cosplayers to the Augusta Convention Center over the weekend.

The fifth annual event has grown from a small hotel conference room to the convention center utilizing as much space as possible.

Because of social distancing, fewer vendors could fit into the space at the convention center last year, but with those restrictions lifted, organizer Ed Schumacher said his vendor space has grown from 172 booths to 225 this year.

Retired wrestlers Tyler Mane, Jerry “The King” Lawler and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat were featured celebrities, and multiple comic book artists participated in the event.

One of the main draws of the event is the G.I. Joe portion of the convention.

“It’s the largest G.I. Joe event in the country,” said Schumacher.

The event ends Sunday. For more information, visit joefestusa.com.
