A plantation-turned-cemetery, Magnolia Cemetery is located at 702 3rd St. in Augusta. It’s the final resting place for many Confederate families and generals. It spans over 60 acres and includes sections specifically for Jewish and Greek families. The eastern wall was used as fortification against the Union during the Civil War.
Trowbridge

A Greek-style jar grave marker for Nelson C. Trowbridge (1815-1879) and his wife, Evalina F. Trowbridge (1820-1880).
Obelisks

From left to right, these graves belong to Augusta Hart (1836-1838), Ann Sophia Clark (1851-1852), Horace Clark (1786-1854) and George Rackett (? -1852).
Father, Mother, Brother

Another family grave marker labeled “Father, Mother, Brother.” Mary Luibury (1800-1864), Eugene A. (1840-1867) and James B. Bishop (1798-1867) all rest here.
Brazier

In the center is a marker for a Confederate surgeon named William Henry Doughty (1836-1905). It consists of a brazier flanked by pillars, supporting a small roof.
Eugene McCay

This gravestone was placed for Eugene McCay (1855-1856) in the McCay family burial plot.
