With a high of 97 degrees recorded at Augusta’s Bush Field Monday, area residents tried to find ways to stay cool.

In North Augusta, the splash pad saw a lot of activity.

Temperatures are supposed to remain high through the week, according to the National Weather Service in Columbia.

The forecast for June 14 projects a high near 102 with heat index values as high as 110 degrees. The afternoon will see a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m.

The low Tuesday evening is expected around 77 degrees.
