Photostory: UGA men’s basketball defeats Florida

Date: February 27, 2025

Georgia downed No. 3 ranked Florida 88-83 on Tuesday night in a home game that could provide a much-needed boost for the Bulldogs when NCAA tournament brackets are completed. Georgia opened a 26-point lead with 7:53 remaining in the first half but Florida battled back to take a brief lead late in the second half before the Bulldogs closed out the win for head coach Mike White’s first victory over his former team. Guard Silas Demery Jr. led the Bulldogs in scoring with 21 points, followed by forward Asa Newell’s 15 points, and guard Blue Cain (12 points). The Gators were led by guard Will Richard who poured in 30 points in a losing effort. When the final clock sounded, Bulldog fans waited for teams and officials to leave the floor before celebrating on the home court at Stegeman Coliseum. The Bulldogs will be back in action with road games against Texas (Sat., Mar. 1) and South Carolina (Tues., Mar 4) before closing out the regular season at home against Vanderbilt (Sat., Mar. 8).
