Pinnacle Bank is gearing up to develop its latest branch in the heart of Evans.
The Elberton, Ga.-based bank, along with the McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture firm, has submitted design plans for a three-story, 30,000-square foot building at the intersection of Ronald Reagan Drive and Evans Towne Center Boulevard.
The plans were submitted to the Columbia County planning department as eight part of a variance request to allow 8-by-8 foot windows on the proposed building, rather than 4-by-8 maximum permitted in the county ordinance.
The request also seeks to allow up to 40% of the façade facing Evans Towne Center Boulevard and that facing the neighboring Meybohm building to incorporate aluminum storefront or curtainwall glazing for the windows.
A letter of intention included with the variance application indicates the larger windows are part of a design to complement the wider area and to “enhance the pedestrian experience along Evans Town Center Boulevard.”
“The increased glazing allows for abundant natural light and expansive views, strengthening the building’s relationship with its environment,” said McMillan Pazdan Smith architect Junichi Katagiri in the letter. “This approach also creates a welcoming atmosphere for both customers and the community, aligning with contemporary architectural trends that emphasize seamless indoor-outdoor connectivity.”
The building is to include space for several lines of business, including retail and commercial banking and mortgage lending.
The project comes on the heels of the ribbon-cutting of Pinnacle’s mortgage office on the Richmond County side, just off Furys Ferry, which opened October. It’s also the latest in Pinnacle’s planned expansion throughout the Augusta area, alongside a branch on Walton Way.
The Columbia County Planning Commission to consider Pinnacle Bank’s request during its meeting on April 3.
