North Augusta Public Safety officers are searching for a 2006-2009 Ford Focus in relation to an April 29 road rage incident.

In a April 29 article in The Augusta Press, John Byrd Jr., told authorities that he was cut off on Knox Avenue around 1:20 p.m. April 29 as he was driving in his white Chevrolet Tahoe. As the vehicles stopped at East Martintown Road, the suspect began yelling at him. When they stopped again at East Martintown Road and Atomic Road, the incident turned violent.

The victim stated the suspect then brandished a handgun and shot one time into his vehicle,” North Augusta Department of Public Safety Lt. Luke Sherman said in that article. “The victim stated he sped away and proceeded to the Sprint Station.”

A May 9 email from Lt. Junior Junior of North Augusta Department of Public Safety sent a photograph of the vehicle in question along the updated statement.

Anyone has information on who may have been operating this vehicle, please contact Inv. Fox with North Augusta Public Safety at (803) 441-4217.
