Multiple items from Tuesday’s Columbia County Proposed Management and Internal Services Committee are heading to the Columbia County Commission meeting July 20.

Cyber security insurance was on the debate agenda with Michael Blanchard, technology services director, asking for more than $45,000 toward securing a Specialty Risk Protector insurance policy by AIG to use for the fiscal year. The purpose of the policy would be to insure Columbia County for damages from a potential cyber-attack or a data breach. The policy would cover one year.

Blanchard also requested over $269,000 toward maintaining annual support and the licensing agreement for MUNIS accounting software. The software is used to process purchasing, payroll and a variety of accounting functions.

Also, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office requested more than $305,000 to replace 12 Dodge Chargers for its patrol unit. Although order deadline was for the vehicles was June 16, sheriff’s officials had coordinated with county administration to issue a letter of intent to purchase the vehicles to ensure that the vehicles could be purchased by that deadline and to avoid a price increase with 2022 models.

Vice Chairperson Connie Melear asked if the price of this order included police vehicle fittings and accessories. Leanne Reece, internal services director, replied that vehicle fittings were not included in the price of the vehicle order.

In other business, Scott Johnson, county manager, noted in the staff report that personnel savings exceeded $1 million this year and that he expects more to be saved next year.

Also included on the debate agenda for that meeting were alcoholic beverage licenses for Shishkabob Restaurant on 648 N. Belair Rd. and Cracker Barrel Country Store on 640 Parkwest Dr. Both applications were approved for debate at the upcoming commission meeting.
