Polling place changes announced for Augusta voters

District 2 precinct lines are shifted under changes proposed by the Richmond County Board of Elections.

Date: March 06, 2025

Voters in five Augusta voting precincts are in for a change in the next election.

The Augusta-Richmond County Board of Elections has announced polling place changes that will impact approximately 7,500 voters in the next election.

The changes are the outcome of two churches opting to cease serving as polling places and the elections office rearranging impacted voters, said Travis Doss, executive director for Richmond County Board of Elections.

Asbury United Methodist Church, where precincts 101 and 204 voted, is closing its doors. Its voters are moving to the Charles Evans Community Center, 1866 Highland Ave.

Augusta Deliverance Evangelistic Church no longer wants to be a polling place, Doss said. Its voters, Precinct 110, will move to Mann-Mize Fellowship Church, 2705 Milledgeville Road.

Two more sets of voters, from Precinct 208 (Mann-Mize) and Precinct 210 (Augusta Aquatics Center) also will move to the Charles Evans Community Center. This move will shift nearly 1,300 voters from Precinct 208 to Precinct 204.

The board of elections will hold a public hearing on the changes at 6 p.m. Monday in the Linda Beazley Room at Augusta Municipal Building, 535 Telfair St. Objections must be filed in writing or delivered orally.

If the board adopts the changes, they will go into effect for the June 17 special primary for two statewide Public Service Commission seats.
