One theme with 30 interpretations by 30 artists.
The Augusta Poster Show is scheduled for July 23-24 at the Wow! Club at SRP Park.
“The only criteria was it was an Augusta-themed show,” said Jason Craig, a graphic designer and artist who came up with the idea.

He wanted people to express in a graphic what Augusta meant to them.
When he came up with the idea, Craig didn’t expect a lot of participation.
“Honestly, I thought there would be five of us, and I’d have to twist a bunch of people’s arms,” he said.

He was blown away when 74 artists expressed an interest. Not all of the artists live in the Augusta area, but all of them have some tie to the Garden City.
Artists focused on different pieces of the city. Some highlighted performers such as James Brown and Sharon Jones; others showcased the city’s history; some focused on businesses and buildings that are no longer in existence; some paid homage to the city’s golf heritage.
Some posters had their own unique twist such as Jeremy Mace’s.

“It’s D&D Augusta,” he said.
He created a map similar to what a Dungeons and Dragons’ player would use. Points of interest on the map include The Mother of Nachos restaurant and The House of Robert Jones and the Masters of Clubs, he said.
Craig said it was tough to pare down the entries from 74 to 30, but what was even harder was the judges deciding the winners of awards that will be presented at the VIP event at 6 p.m. July 23.
Bennish Brown, president and CEO of the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau, Nancy Glaser, executive director for the Augusta Museum of History and Coco Rubio of ALMA were the three judges.
