Pre-K applications are currently being accepted in Richmond, Columbia and Aiken counties.
The Richmond County School System began accepting Pre-K student applications for the 2022-23 school year March 1.
Students who will be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2022, are eligible to register for one of the 60 Pre-K classrooms, according to a news release from the Richmond County Board of Education.
“Our Pre-K program is an excellent opportunity for students to establish a firm foundation of excellence in education and build the social skills required to succeed in school. We look forward to welcoming more than 1,000 students to Pre-K classrooms this fall,” said Josephine Lane, Early Learning coordinator, in the release.
Pre-K classrooms are located at all Richmond County elementary schools with the exception of C.T. Walker Magnet School. Parents and legal guardians can visit rcboe.org/preklotteryregistration for more information.
The deadline to register is April 11.

Parents will be notified by email on April 19 and Pre-K teachers will begin contacting parents after April 20.
In Columbia County, online registration is not available, but applications are available for download at ccboe.net.
Children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2022, To register to attend Pre-K at a particular school, the child must reside with the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) in that school zone, the website said.
Columbia County’s deadline is March 25. Participation the school system’s Pre-K is by lottery and results of the drawing will be posted by 4 p.m. March 31 on school websites.
In Aiken County, the window for the school district’s 4K Child Development Program opened Feb. 28 and continues through April 1, according to a news release from the Aiken County school district.
A Pre-K application may be completed online at acpsd.net by clicking I AM … > A Parent/Guardian > Pre-Kindergarten > 4K Applications (https://acpsd.link/ac9wq). Parents and guardians must have an active email address to compete the application process. Parents will first be prompted to create an account prior to completing the application. Anyone needing assistance with the application process may visit Freedman Early Learning Center, located at 225 Aiken Road in Graniteville, between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or visit an ACPSD elementary school in their local area.
