President’s leadership institute class of 2024 announced by Augusta Technical College

Augusta Technical College has recently announced the class of 2024 for the President’s Leadership Institute. 

The President’s Leadership Institute was established by Dr. Jermaine Whirl, president of Augusta Technical College, for full-time employees. The program focused on organizational culture and succession planning. Employees had to apply to be a part of the highly competitive program. Only 20 employees are selected each year.

The program focuses on six major themes: understanding the history and mission of two-year colleges; leadership and community development and engagement; higher education innovation and diversity, equity, and inclusion; institutional advocacy, advancement, and policy framing; best practices, trends, and opportunities in higher education; and career advancing techniques and coaching. 

“I look forward to engaging and learning with this year’s class,” said Dr. Whirl. “Cultivating our internal talent is a top priority for our institutions, and I’m excited these employees accepted the opportunity to learn and grow through this program.”

  • Gregory Coursey Jr., director, Waynesboro site
  • Jason A. Dixon, instructor, media production/photographer
  • Jeanette “Penny” Lowe, director, Thomson site
  • Kamesha Bradham, librarian, Thomson site
  • Kaylei Martin, coordinator for Campus Life and Recruitment
  • Kim Gaines, department dead, electrical and computer engineering technology
  • Kittie Clark, compliance coordinator
  • Laura Martinez, instructor, culinary arts
  • Leah Bryant, instructor, environmental horticulture
  • Monica L. Jones, admission assistant, Thomson site
  • Mylinthia Kelly, workforce development coordinator
  • Rodithia Holloman, department head, early childhood care/education
  • Sarah Osborn, instructor, anatomy and physiology/biology
  • Shirnita Rucker, instructor, early childhood care/education
  • Tiffany Rowe-Thomas, instructor, business/business and office technology
  • Velinsie Ware, admission assistant, adult education
  • Warnisha Brown, assistant registrar 

This year’s class will begin on April 26 at the Thompson Depot. Guest speakers will be college presidents and economic development professionals.
