A rodeo is coming to Grovetown later this month.

On Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19, the American Hero Pro Rodeo will be at Liberty Park in Grovetown. This isn’t the first time the city has hosted the rodeo, said Grovetown Public Information Officer Jordan Johnson. The city previously hosted the event in 2022 when it brought in over 8,700 people over the two nights.

“It was a resounding success and given that success, we look to repeat that again this year,” Johnson said. “It’s just a great opportunity to bring family friendly entertainment to our citizens.”

The gates will open at 5 p.m. and there will be food and beverage vendors, games, activities and entertainment for patrons to enjoy, Johnson said. The activities include a mechanical bull, bounce houses for kids and more. At 6 p.m., Kendall Levesque will perform for the crowd. The rodeo will begin at 7:30 p.m. and there will be rodeo clowns, bull riding and more.

As for why the city wanted to host the rodeo again, Johnson said not only did it bring in a large crowd in 2022, but American Pro Rodeo donates their proceeds to charitable organizations.

“That’s something that we’re also excited about,” Johnson said. “Not only is it a great opportunity for folks to come out and have a great time, it’s also an opportunity for people to give back and donate to a great cause.”

The three organizations the rodeo is donating to are Bright Eyes Homeless Veterans Initiative in Augusta, Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry in Harlem and Concerned Women Inc. in Grovetown.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at rodeoticket.com and Grovetown Farm and Garden Center. The cost for advance tickets is $17 for ages 13 and up, $10 for age 6-12 and free for under 5. Tickets at the gate is $20 for age 13 and up, $15 for 6-12 and free for five and under

Johnson said this is a rain or shine event and that coolers and pets are not allowed.
