The Democratic Special Primary for the Public Service Commission is heading to a runoff on July 15 between Peter Hubbard and Keisha Sean Waites.

According to the Columbia County Board of Elections office, absentee ballot applications are now being accepted through July 7 and will go out as soon as possible.

Advanced voting will take place at Building G3 in Evans only from July 7-11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Election Day, which is July 15, voting will take from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Precinct 010/Kiokee Baptist Church (2520 Ray Owens Road, Appling) only. This is due to a turnout of less than 1% in Columbia County for the Democratic Special Primary Election. This is allowed by state law (21-2-270), which says that every polling location does not have to be open on the runoff Election Day.

Only residents who either did not vote or voted in the Democratic primary for the June 17 primary can vote in the runoff.
