The Public Facilities Authority received an update on projects during its meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

County Manager and board member Scott Johnson provided the updates on several projects, including the new Building A, the senior center remodel, the Performing Arts (PAC) Center Support Facility, Pollard House and Savannah Rapids Pavilion.

For Building A, Johnson said a temporary CO has been issued, and the county staff hopes to move in soon. Following the meeting, he gave members of the PFA a tour of the new building. He said that once that building is complete, the old Building A will be torn down and that area will be turned into parking and a courtyard-type area. The new building is four stories and will house the departments in the current Building A, along with county administration.

For the senior center remodel, Johnson said work has not yet started on that project yet.

“We’re still working on what we’re going to do out there as it relates to the old Euchee Creek Library repurpose. We’re working on those,” Johnson said.

As for the PAC Support Facility, Johnson said that construction has started. The facility is being built next to the PAC and will be event space and storage space.

For the Pollard House renovations, Johnson said the Public Works and Engineering Services Committee approved rejecting the bids for that project. He stated the bids came in almost a million dollars over budget, so the county is going to rework the project and then rebid it in a few months. The commission will vote on the item on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

The design of Savannah Rapids Pavilion is nearing completion, and the county hopes to get it out to bid by either the end of this year or the beginning of 2026, Johnson said. Savannah Rapids Pavilion was damaged during Hurricane Helene and has been closed since then.
