In the health inspection world, a score below 70 is failing, and while no restaurants received a failing score this from Jan. 22-26, one did get scored in the 70s.
Asian Wok, 3697 Windsor Spring Road, building B104, Hephzibah received a 77, the lowest score this week. Comments from the report included that the inspector “observed raw scallops stored next to raw chicken. Raw chicken stored over and next to raw beef in walk in cooler.”
Other comments included: “observed no paper towels at hand washing sink. Repeat,” “observed prepped food in walk in cooler and reach in coolers uncovered. Repeat” and “observed to-go bags being used for food storage in walk in cooler and walk in freezer. Repeat.”
The second lowest score was 82, which belonged to Best Western, 3039 Washington DIA B, Augusta. The inspector’s comments include: “water from faucets in rooms must not exceed 120 F. Adjust water supply to provide water not exceeding 120 F from room faucets,” “Provide copy of gas fired inspection form for 1 dryer and 2 water heaters. (Must be inspected if able to be used or removed from facility,” “vents in bathrooms must function,” “openings to exterior must be vermin proof. Windows that open must be provided with window screens. (Observed several open windows without screens, several that opened without screens)” and “keep clean: A/C filters, under sofa cushions. Rm. 110 sofa cushion cut. Rm. 112; cable box out of wall.”

The third lowest score belonged Taqueria El Patron, located, 3107 Washington Road, Augusta, who received an 84. The inspector’s comments include: “observed tomatoes and pico de gallo stored in uncovered in RIC,” “observed excess build up in ice machine,” “observed several soiled wiping cloths across prep tables in main kitchen,” “observed scoops in powders and seasonings,” “observed sink labeled ‘food wash only’ holding dirty pots and pans” and “observed fly traps above food contact surfaces in main kitchen full.”
