Qualifying for the Richmond County Board of Education election will take place this week.

The qualifying period will begin on Monday, Aug. 19 at 9 a.m. and end on Friday, Aug. 23 at noon. Those who are interested in qualifying need to do so at the Richmond County Board of Elections office located at 535 Telfair St. Suite 500. The qualifying fee is $100. 

The seats up for election are Districts 1,4,5,8 and 10. The seats are currently held  by Shawnda Griffin (District 1), Wayne Frazier (District 4), Patsy Scott (District 5), Jimmy Atkins (District 8) and Helen Minchew (District 10).
