Queensborough’s Bill Thompson promoted to Chief Banking Officer

Queensborough National Bank & Trust Company has recently announced the promotion of Bill Thompson to Chief Banking Officer.

Thompson has 43 years of banking experience and has been with Queensborough as Chief Lending Officer since 2008. 

“Since then, he has been committed to growing the bank while maintaining exceptional service and staying true to the bank’s hometown roots,” stated a press release from Queensborough National Bank & Trust.”

Under his management, the bank saw an increase in total assets from $863 million to over $2 billion.

Thompson’s dedication to the professional development and mentorship of the bank’s employees has earned the bank recognition of Newsweek’s Best Small Bank in Georgia in 2022, in addition to Great Place to Work in 2022 and 2023.

In his new role, Thompson is responsible for managing all traditional banking activities and credit approvals across all bank markets.

Before joining Queensborough, Thompson served in various positions in Atlanta, Columbus and Augusta with SunTrust Banks, Inc.

He also holds a degree from Young Harris College and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Emory University.

Beyond his professional achievements, Thompson is deeply committed to community service, as proven by his commitment to assisting several local committees.

Thompson’s many leadership roles include being chairman of the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce, Augusta Tomorrow, First Baptist Church, Golden Harvest Food Bank and Westminster Schools of Augusta.

In his leisure time, he enjoys tennis and spending time with Pam, his wife of 37 years Pam, as well as his son Rob and daughter Becca.
