RCSO deputy charged with oath violation, drug conspiracy, gang activity

RCSO Deputy Diana Santiago

Date: October 21, 2025

A five-year deputy with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was arrested Monday afternoon on three felony charges after investigators linked her to possible gang activity.

Deputy Diana Santiago, who joined the department in May 2020, was brought in for questioning around 3:45 p.m. following an internal investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division. After the interview, investigators confirmed multiple violations of the law, including Violation of Oath of Office, Conspiracy to Purchase or Possess a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Street Gang Activity.

Authorities said the controlled substance at the center of the case involved pills, though the type and quantity were not disclosed. The sheriff’s office confirmed the investigation remains active, and additional arrests are possible.

The arrest follows a video from a YouTube creator that highlighted her alleged interaction with an inmate from another county.

Santiago was terminated from employment effective immediately after meeting with Chief Lewis Blanchard. She was then transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center for booking.

Sheriff Eugene Brantley said the department will not tolerate criminal conduct among its ranks and praised investigators for handling the case thoroughly and professionally. He emphasized that accountability starts within the agency and that the sheriff’s office remains committed to maintaining public trust.
