Addison Brown

Date: February 19, 2025

A Richmond County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been terminated and charged for violating the oath of office.

According to a press release from RCSO, Deputy Addison Leroy Brown, who joined the sheriff’s office in April 2024, was fired on Tuesday, Feb. 18 and charged with giving false statements in a government matter and violation of oath of office. The charges come from an incident on Saturday, Feb. 15 after a review of body cam footage during an internal investigation revealed inconsistencies.

RCSO Sheriff Gino Brantley has stated he supports deputies who perform their duties ethically and honestly and there is no place in for those who violate their oath of office.

“We remain committed to transparency and accountability,” said Sheriff Brantley. “We will continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity as we work to earn and maintain the public’s trust. Together, we are going to make Augusta better—one day at a time.”
