A 22-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday morning in the parking lot of the Oakview Place Apartments in Hephzibah, authorities said.
The victim, identified as Stephon Jones, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders at approximately 4:10 a.m. Saturday.
Authorities received reports of the shooting around 3:03 a.m. and arrived to find Jones suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite efforts to provide aid, he succumbed to his injuries.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has initiated an investigation into the incident, although no additional details have been released at this time.
