RCSO investigates online threat at Cross Creek High; basketball games canceled

Date: January 21, 2025

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said they are investigating a potential threat circulating online regarding Cross Creek High School.

As of now, no verifiable threat has been identified, but basketball games scheduled on Monday have been cancelled, a press release says.

The threat, posted online under the name ToyeReecee Clark, shows a young man with a gun and a caption threatening to kill people at the Augusta school. “Swear to god watch this head shots and face taps,” the caption reads, in part.

This post of a young man with a gun and threats toward Cross Creek High has sparked an investigation and led to the cancellation of Monday’s basketball games.

The RCSO is working with the Richmond County Board of Education Campus Police and other local agencies, including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. As a precaution, all games at the tournament have been canceled.

Extra patrols will be in place when school resumes. The RCSO urges anyone with credible information to contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing the Public Information Officer at PIO@augusaga.gov.
