RCSO responding to report of body at Lock and Dam Road

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded Thursday morning to a report of a body in the river at the 1800 block of Lock and Dam Road.

The Richmond County Coroners Office confirmed that the body of an adult male was found. The man was pronounced deceased at 8:40 a.m. and an autopsy is scheduled. The ID will be released once a positive identification has been made.

The Richmond County Fire Department is on scene attempting recovery, while investigators with the Sheriff’s Office are conducting an investigation, said RSCO.

Due to it being an active scene, no other information is available at this time.
