Narcotics officers made a big bust last week at Wheeler Woods apartments in Augusta, seizing over 18 pounds of marijuana as well other drugs and stash of guns.
Steffon Stevens, 25, was armed with a loaded 9 mm pistol Sept. 28 when agents went to Apartment C at 4021 Wheeler Woods Rd., according to a sheriff’s report.
Big bags of marijuana were everywhere in the unit
• Two vacuum-sealed bags weighing a half-pound were in the kitchen cabinet above the stove.
- Eight plastic Tupperware-style tubs with four pounds of loose marijuana were in a cabinet near the microwave.
- Three vacuum-sealed bags with two pounds of marijuana were found in the living room-closet next to a loaded 12-gauge shotgun.
- A blue suitcase stuffed with 11 pounds of marijuana was found in an attached storage shed, separated into 10 vacuum-sealed bags.
Officers also found Ecstasy pills, Oxycodone, Alprazolam and 54 grams of powder cocaine, a report says.
Three weapons were hidden in a kitchen cabinet: a Springfield Armory 1911-A1 .45 ACP handgun, a RG Industries Model RG23 .22LR revolver with an altered or obliterated serial number, and a Chiappa Firearms model Plinkerton .22LR revolver. A loaded SDS Imports 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun was found in the laundry area by the washing machine.
In the upstairs, officers found a Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0 .40 caliber handgun in the hallway and a loaded Diamondback Firearms DB15 AR-15 style pistol and an Anderson Manufacturing AM-15 AR-15 style pistol on the floor of a spare bedroom. Under the master bed, officers found an ABC Rifle Company ABC-15 AR-15 style pistol.
From the sheriff’s report: “At the time of his arrest, Stevens was found to be in possession of (cash) in small denominations consistent with the sale of street-level narcotics. Stevens used to scale to weigh the bulk marijuana and the packaging material to break down the bulk narcotics for sale. Stevens used the firearms located in the residence to protect both the illegal narcotics as well as the proceeds garnered from their sale.”
The sheriff’s office declined to share photos of the seizure.
