The Lincoln County Red Devils (9-0) dominated from start to finish Friday night at Buddy Buford Stadium, rolling past the Warren County Screaming Eagles 55–6 to capture the Region 8-A championship.
Running back Jonathan Norman set the tone early, breaking loose for a 26-yard touchdown run on 4th-and-2 with 8:27 remaining in the first quarter to give the Red Devils a 7–0 lead. Just minutes later, Kelby Glaze added a 22-yard scoring run to make it 14–0.
Warren County answered briefly on an 8-yard touchdown pass to Mark Young on 4th-and-6. The Screaming Eagles went for two, but the Red Devil defense held firm, leaving the score 14–6 with 1:53 left in the first quarter.
Lincoln County wasted no time responding. Glaze broke free again — this time for a 31-yard touchdown run — to extend the lead to 21–6 as the opening period closed.
The Red Devil defense joined the scoring barrage early in the second quarter when Fortson Partridge intercepted a pass and returned it to the five-yard line. After a penalty pushed the ball back, quarterback Mekhi Wade connected with Christian Hopkins for a touchdown pass to make it 28–6 with 9:45 left before halftime.
Moments later, Aiden Jones recovered a fumble in the end zone for another Lincoln County touchdown, stretching the lead to 35–6. A bad snap on a Warren County punt gave Lincoln County prime field position at the 17-yard line, and Wade found Hopkins again on a 3-yard pass to make it 42–6 with 2:40 left in the half.
On the very next series, Warren County fumbled again, and Lincoln County capitalized. Jacobe Moss powered in on two straight runs, capping the half with a 49–6 lead.
The Red Devils added another score in the second half to close out the 55–6 rout, sealing the Region 8-A title in emphatic fashion.
With the win, Lincoln County remained undefeated and will close out the regular season next Friday at Greene County. Warren County (4-5) returns home to face Washington-Wilkes.
