U.S. Rep. Rick Allen joins DOGE caucus

Congressman Rick Allen

Date: December 08, 2024

Congressman Rick Allen announced he will be joining the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency caucus.

“Since being elected to Congress, I have been committed to reining in the size and scope of the federal government. The last four years under the Biden-Harris Administration have proven that top-down regulations, wasteful spending, and unelected bureaucrats wielding unchecked power do more harm than good to the American people,” Allen said in a statement.

“I look forward to partnering with my colleagues on the DOGE Caucus to carry out our mission of bringing meaningful change to Washington.”

Thursday, Allen, R-Augusta, attended a meeting hosted by Speaker Mike Johnson with Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy and the House Republican caucus.

Entrepreneurs Musk and Ramaswamy have been tapped by Presidential-elect Trump to head the new Department of Government Efficiency. The two tycoons met with Republican congress members Thursday but revealed few specifics of their plans to reduce government spending or improve efficiency.

Congressmen Pete Sessions of Texas and Aaron Bean of Florida co-founded the DOGE caucus last month. It will function as a subcommittee of the House Oversight Committee, led by Congresswoman Majorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.
