A school resource officer for North Augusta High School is being investigated by SLED for an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old female student, authorities said.
Chris Wilson, 22, an officer with North Augusta Public Safety, resigned last month after being suspended in the case. He had worked with the agency for 10 months.
“North Augusta Public Safety was made aware of allegations of an inappropriate relationship involving former Public Safety Officer Chris Wilson and a female at North Augusta High School,” NADPS Lt. Junior Johnson said in a statement. “Upon learning of these allegations on December 16th, North Augusta Department of Public Safety immediately began an investigation and suspended Officer Wilson that same day. Due to the possible criminal nature of the complaint, North Augusta Public Safety notified an outside agency (SLED) to conduct an investigation into this matter.”
Wilson then resigned from Public Safety. He began his employment on Feb. 2, 2022, and he resigned on Dec. 19, 2022.
The SLED investigation is ongoing, Lt. Johnson said.
