Vernon Jones, a Republican candidate for the 10th Congressional District, says that Black voters have been on the “mental plantation” for too long and says he is the “worst nightmare” of the liberal wing of the Democrat Party.

The Black population in the 10th District is roughly 25%, and Jones says he is the man who can bring those traditional Democrat voters into the GOP tent.

“Black folks are beginning to wake up and realize they have been lied to and it is the white far-left liberals like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer that lie to the Black community, making all these promises, but then they turn right around and throw Black people off the bus,” Jones said.

The Democrat establishment panders to Black voters, Jones says, by parading around and advocating social justice while wearing African Kente scarves, not knowing or caring that the scarves were created and worn by the leaders of the African empires whose major source of wealth was in the slave trade.

According to Jones, the Democratic Party establishment does not want Black people to think for themselves, are afraid of Black independent thinkers. He says that is why the members of the so-called Squad have attempted to brand Senator Tim Scott, Larry Elder, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and others such as himself ‘Black White Supremacists.’”

“The days of go along to get along are over. We have to go to Congress and take a stand to protect the Constitution,” Jones said.

Jones said that his stand includes free speech, freedom from medical mandates, school choice freedom, securing the southern border as well as protecting women’s sports from transgender biological males forcing women out of competition and protecting children against forced hormone treatments that delay puberty.

Balancing the federal budget is also an important issue for Jones who states that, as CEO of DeKalb County, he was required to balance the budget and he feels the national government should be held to the same standard.

Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Jones in his bid for the congressional seat.

Like current Senatorial hopeful Herschel Walker, Jones is a staunch supporter of Trump and gladly accepted the former president’s endorsement, stating that Trump has done more for the Black community than any other president in the last 50 years.

“It wasn’t until Donald Trump came into office that more Black people had jobs than ever before. It was the Trump administration that supported and funded Black colleges. It was Trump that came up with opportunity zone districts that is redeveloping and revitalizing these communities that have been destroyed by liberal leadership,” he said.

Newsweek Magazine quoted Jones as saying on Twitter that his first order of business once elected will be to introduce Articles of Impeachment against both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I am Black, and I am MAGA. I am for America first,” Jones said.

The 10th Congressional district is a largely rural area that is just east of Atlanta and stretches from Athens all the way to Augusta’s doorstep. Locally, the district comprises Washington, Wilkes, Lincoln, McDuffie, Jefferson, Warren and a small part of Columbia County.

Jones is running in the May 24 Republican primary against a field of 12 other candidates.

A longtime state representative and former Chief Executive Officer of DeKalb County, Jones recently dropped his bid for Georgia Governor in favor of running for Congress. The current occupant of the congressional seat, Jody Hice, is running for Georgia Secretary of State against Republican incumbent Brad Raffensperger.
