The Richmond County Coroner’s Office has announced updates on hurricane-related deaths as well as two homicide investigations.
Fallen Trees Claim Lives
The Coroner’s Office responded to several locations where trees fell on residences, killing six people, including a 10-year-old boy:
- 5100 Block Old Waynesboro Road: Stephen Donehoo, 72, was pronounced dead at the scene after a tree struck his home. His 10-year-old grandson, Izaak Donehoo, was transported to Wellstar MCG Health but succumbed to injuries shortly after arrival.
- 2200 Block Morningside Drive: Katherine McCall, 62, was also pronounced dead on the scene due to a tree falling on her residence.
- 2100 Block Lake Avenue: Uyen Xuan Le, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene after a similar incident.
- 3300 Wedgewood Drive: Daverio Carter, 50, was found dead after a tree fell on his home.
- 4500 Block Windsor Spring Road: Andrea Warner, 62, was pronounced dead on the scene after a tree fell on her residence.

Vehicle and Pedestrian Incidents
In addition to the tree-related fatalities, the Coroner’s Office reported two additional tragic incidents:
- 3500 Block Mike Padgett Highway: Caffee Wright, 52, was pronounced dead at 8:22 p.m. after the vehicle they were riding in struck a tree.

- Washington Road at Alexander Drive: A female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and later pronounced dead at Wellstar MCG Health at 3:05 a.m. on Saturday. Her identity is pending confirmation.
Ongoing Homicide Investigations
The Coroner’s Office also provided updates on ongoing investigations:
- Shooting Death on Druid Park: Jean Paul Magala, 18, who was shot on Sept. 20, was pronounced dead at Wellstar MCG Health on Sept. 27. An autopsy is scheduled.
- Shooting Incident at 10th Street and Florence Street: On Saturday, another shooting resulted in a fatality. The victim was transported to Wellstar MCG Health and pronounced dead at 6:03 p.m.. He has been identified as Darrell Rice Jr., 36, of the 2800 block of Lumpkin Road.
The Coroner’s Office and Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate these cases, and further details will be released as they become available.
