The Richmond County Board of Elections will be holding a public hearing on Sept. 4 regarding precinct changes.

There is a proposal to change the Election Day polling location for voters at precincts 503/505 who are currently voting at Belle Terrace Presbyterian Church and advance voting at Charles Evans Community Center. The proposal is to move them back to the Henry Brigham Community Center.

“Back in 2023, I guess it was, we had been voting at the Henry Brigham Community Center for many years and it was under construction, said Travis Doss, Richmond County Board of Elections executive director. “Basically, they renovated the entire building and so now that construction is complete, we were planning to move back into the building.”

Even though the board is proposing to move back into the previous polling location, due to the law, Doss said a public hearing must be held anytime there is a polling place change. Any objections to the changes must be filed in writing before the hearing or presented orally at the hearing.

The precincts changes would be effective for advanced voting for the Nov. 5 election and on Election Day.

The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. in the Linda Beazley Community Room at the Municipal Building, 535 Telfair St. For more information, contact the Board of Elections at 706-821-2340 or by www.augustaga.gov/vote.
