Authorities are investigating two shootings that occurred over the weekend.

The first happened Saturday.

At 6:44 p.m., Richmond County deputies responded to the Hampton Inn, 306 Timbercreek Lane (off the 2100 block of Gordon Highway) in reference to a disturbance with shots fired, according to an email from the sheriff’s office.

“Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim who had been shot in his arm while in his hotel room. The investigation revealed that a male suspect staying in the room next door to the victim began destroying his room and at some point fired a gun several times. One of the rounds traveled through the wall and struck the victim. The victim was transported to the hospital to be treated for non life threatening injuries,” the email continued.

Authorities said the suspect was “believed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol was treated for minor cuts sustained from damaging the room and taken into custody.”

The second shooting occurred early Sunday morning.

At 12:36 am, Richmond County Deputies responded to the 2400 block of Nordahl Drive near Windsor Spring Road.

“Upon arrival, Deputies found two male victims with gunshot wounds, both non life threatening. Both victims were transported to Augusta University Medical Center.”

Both emails stated the investigations were “ongoing, and there is no further information available at this time.”
