Richmond County deputy arrested for domestic violence

Richmond County Sheriff's Deputy Raneisha Price

Date: April 01, 2025

A reported domestic dispute between two Richmond County deputies has led to the arrest of one, the sheriff’s office announced Monday.

Around 9:22 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to a reported dispute in the 2600 block of Bowdoin Drive. At the scene they determined two deputies, Malcolm Owens and Raneisha Price, were involved and that Bowens had sustained a half-inch laceration to the back of his head, the sheriff’s office said.

Bowens told deputies that Price had pushed him in the face and caused his head to strike the corner of a wall. After they located Price at her residence, she “admitted to pushing Deputy Bowens with her arm and hand” during the incident.

Price was arrested and charged with simple battery-family violence. Chief of Staff Lewis Blanchard placed Price on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

Price had been with the sheriff’s office since 2019 and was assigned to field operations-road patrol.

Richmond County Sheriff Gino Brantley said the sheriff’s office strives to help deputies avoid such incidents but ultimately will hold its own accountable.

“We hold those who work for us to the highest standards of conduct, both on and off duty,” Brantley said. “Our agency offers a variety of support and counseling services to deputies in a proactive manner to prevent incidents like this from occurring. However, when individuals violate the law, we will deal with it accordingly.”
