A Richmond County deputy has been charged with failure to maintain lane after crashing into a house Sunday night while rushing to a call.
Deputy Timothy Mashburn, 28, had his emergency equipment activated around 6:30 p.m. Sunday when he lost control around a curve on Goshen Road, a report says. The posted speed limit was 30 mph.
The 2010 Ford Crown Victoria struck a mailbox and a flower pot at a home on Goshen Road and continued forward across Ossabaw Drive. The vehicle left the road again, traveled through the yard at 2004 Ossabaw Drive and struck the house.

The bedroom used by the homeowner’s daughter was the area that was struck, the report says. The daughter was in that room but was not injured.
Mashburn was put on a stretcher and taken to Augusta University Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, a report says.
The accident report says that no safety equipment was used, but it’s not clear if that includes a seat belt. The air bags were deployed during the wreck.
