With summer temperatures on the rise, the Richmond County Marshal’s Office is stepping up to help local residents stay cool and safe through the return of its Annual Fan Drive.
The initiative focuses on providing cooling assistance to those who need it most, including seniors, low-income families and individuals with medical conditions, according to a press release from the Richmond County Marshal’s Office.
The drive encourages community members, organizations and businesses to donate new box fans or make monetary contributions, with the funds used directly to purchase fans for those in need.
Marshal Ramone Lamkin emphasized the importance of the drive, noting that it’s not only about offering relief from the heat but also about strengthening community bonds.
“Every encounter with a citizen is an opportunity to make a positive impact,” said Lamkin. “Through this drive, we’re not only helping people stay cool — we’re also strengthening community ties and showing what it means to care for one another.”
Donations can be dropped off at the Richmond County Marshal’s Office, located in Augusta at 3050 Deans Bridge Road, through June 23.
The fans will be distributed by the Augusta Dream Center, a local partner dedicated to supporting community efforts, according to a press release from the Richmond County Marshal’s Office.
For more details on how to donate or get involved, the public is encouraged to contact the Richmond County Marshal’s Office at 706-821-2368.
